Funny Cats
Funny cats liven up the lives of pet lovers everywhere. Funny cats
jumping and playing about the house doing the darnedest things like
flying through the air, chasing each other's tails or ringing doorbells
to be let in make our somewhat dull lives a better place. Okay,
I will speak for myself. My life is dull and my cats liven things
up.
Over the past 40 years or so, I've had a dozen or so funny cats
(and I have the videos and picture to prove it) that have entertained
me and my family. One of the funny cats, named Fatso, lived to be
over 20 years old and he was a smart old feline to boot (not that
I ever booted him because he had a mean righ cross).
Right now there are four funny cats playing and jumping about the
house, wreaking havoc and entertaining like no other pet can. Dogs
and other animals are fine around the house, but a few funny cats
are just what every household needs. Kids need them, too. And, old
people. And middle age people. And robots, yeah robots need them,
too.
Many years ago one of my funny cats would ring the rear doorbell
on the house (insert your own captions here). We thought the neighbor
kids were playing "Ding Dong Ditch" on us but could never
catch them. The only thing we kept seeing time after time was our
funny little cat sitting outside waiting to be let in.
Finally, one day, I heard the rear doorbell ring and peaked out
the side curtain (Riiiinnnggg it said - this is closed captioned
for the hearing impaired). Anyway, I saw this funny cat jumping
in the air ringing the doorbell on about half of its attempts. Apparently,
like Pavlov and his dogs, some funny cats will catch on that if
it jumps at a particular location of the house long enough, someone
will let it in. Later on I got some 8mm videos of this (you know
I was born back in the caveman days, but with a modern stone age
family).

One of my other funny cats used to hang out atop the garage
refrigerator all day and would swat whomever walked by in
an attempt to be petted. If you tried to walk away, this funny
cat would grab you with its paws to try to keep you from leaving.
Yes, some cats can be very clingy. Others just enjoy playing
and never get tired of it.
One of the funny cats that I have now actually likes to wear
baby clothing and canine t-shirts. Since this funny cat was
a young kitten it was being handled by the kids and learned
to accept all sorts of rough housing including being dressed
up (Particulary I don't like dressing up cats, especially
male cats).
But, the kids would dress up the feline in baby clothing,
then later I found our funny cat walking around the house
during a garage sale wearing a doggie t-shirt that said the
"B" word on it.
I can't stress enough how much I dislike cats wearing clothing,
but the kitty didn't seem to mind, so I practice the Zen spirit
of letting go. That was after I coughed up my own hairball
at the sight of the cat wearing the tee.

So, what would the world be like without funny cats to add spark,
life and humor to it? My funny cats have always been a source of
joy, entertainment and even inspiration. Who needs Abe Lincoln,
Martin Luther King, Gandhi or Mother Teresa when you have cats in
your life?
Anyway, I sarcastically digress. Cats do add joy to ones' life,
however. So, I have an assignment for you, my dear cat-loving friend.
Go lick your cat. I mean right now. Lick your cat and tell it you
love it. Lick it around the face, not the other place, you pervert.
Lick its face and you'll both be the better for it. I guarantee
it.
